Every year SW makes a million dollar shoe for the Oscars and they invite a woman to wear them. Usually she is nominated for best actress or something high profile. I think they are often auctioned after the event and the money is donated to a charity. There was a 2007 controversy because Diablo Cody rejected the shoes. Instead she wore something that looked like they came from Walmart. I personally think she was rude about it, but she was trying to be edgy and make some kind of statement about her being a nonconformist. SW and DC both issued their statements, i am not sure what happened to the shoes.
