Close to 100 pairs of shoes representing Iraqis killed since March 2003 were on display Monday in the Library Quad of Sacramento State U as part of an anti-war demonstration to mark the four-year anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. (3/20/2007)

Not the first time shoes are used as art exhibits to bear silent witnesses of the horrors of war. Just recently, the exhibit Shoes of Memory: Holocaust Ceramic Work By Jenny Stolzenberg generated some media interest (seventy pairs of ceramic shoes replicating shoes found at Auschwitz).
