Default enough with the clear plastic, already!

Here's one shoe trend I can't wait to see the back of:

clear plastic uppers

I mean, what better way to make an attractive shoe look cheap and ugly. Take, for example, these otherwise nice looking Michael Kors Forrest sandals:

Adding a big chunky plastic strap on there may hold the shoe on your feet better, but come on! Who are you kidding? It's not going to look invisible. It's not going to look like the shoe is magically held on your foot. It's going to look like there's a big shiny plastic strap over the arch of your foot. It's possibly going to make your skin bunch up all funny, maybe leaving red marks in the process. And it's certainly going to make your foot sweatier.

Does anyone out there like this look of the clear plastic uppers? I must say (as if it's not obvious by now) that I most emphatically do not!
