Default How do you match your shoes to an outfit, or do you?

Anyone else here slightly bothered by the phrase 'matchy-matchy' to pick on fashion outfits? I even recently read somewhere that you should 'only' match your shoes to the color of your skirt or pants. Honestly, I think it really varies from outfit to outfit & of course mood & personal style.

I happen to like coordinating shoes with a belt, bag or watch. Sure, you can go overboard, but strategic color matches can really bring monochromatic staples up a level.

Anyway, got these shoes last month (Guess at about $35 from amazon) and just caved & got this watch at TJmaxx for $119 & reminded me about the whole 'matchy' thing.

I think shoes make an outfit, so I match my outfit to my shoes. Sometimes it's the earings I am wearing, the bag I am carrying, or my neckalace that cordinates with my shoes, and the rest of the pieces fall into place.

as clinton and stacey say on "what not to wear," they don't have to match they have to go. I like to use my shoes and handbag to "pop" an outfit (and no, your handbag and shoes don't have to be the same color or pattern either) so will go with a contrasting color or pattern so that it's not too matchy-matchy.

I don't necessarily match my shoes but I match a handbag with my outfits.

i just make sure the colours compliment each other not really matching them, i wore a green and black top with black denim and then bright red shoes. I think its more complimenting each other then matching to each other

You could try Amazon or 6pm.com. I know they had some a few months ago. Also, if they are at 6pm, check the price against overstock.com as they seem to have purchased/affiliated with 6pm.
