I am calling photoshopping on this one. There is blurring on part of the left thigh and the wrinkles on the left go a different direction from the wrinkles on the right thigh. I may believe the bruised knees, but not the wrinkles.

Is it just me, or has photoshop destroyed photojournalism & is currently destroying the art of commercial photography?
You mean like this?
The one on the left is the original ad. The one on the right is a photoshop geek playing with the image.
That's a rather infamous example
Seriously, check out the Demi Moore cover on this week's W cover. OMG. Now They are saying it wasn't photoshopped? I don't know, I compare the 'original' and the published, and the negative space around the hip & wrist is just different enough in the final cover that I have my doubts about a cry of no-photoshopping. One looks natural, the other looks like it was cut out with safety scissors and pasted on a new backround. My opinion, YMMV.
Like the work of the professional photographer wasn't enough to capture this phenominally in-shape woman? A professional photo-shoot probably has hundreds of shots to choose from. All taken by a professional photographer/artist who knows a thing or two about color, composition & lighting. Why are editors convinced some photo-shop geek needs to change what are probably already fantastic shots? (see below subtle, but telling differences)
And how does an editor keep their job after allowing something like this go to print?

It's just a wonder to me that we haven't been hearing outrage from the artist photographers who are being marginalized by over-reliance on photoshop. If that's what is going to happen, why not just employ some part-time college students with pocket PHD (Point here dummy) cameras instead of hiring real talent? I just don't understand.
I just read an article about how to do a photo session using a point and shoot camera and photoshop, I then read how they send the photo electronically to India or Philipine Photoshops-R-Us. The world is truly flat.
Definitely disturbing.
Hubby & I were talking about this. Digital editing is making a lot of folks de-value the true photographic artists. It's a shame that unaltered artistic photography may have seen it's peek ... who'd have thought?![]()
A detective show I saw a couple of years ago addressed the issue of pornographing men and women who were 18 then photoshopping them to look much younger. The question was, it is illegal or not. The models were of age, so they weren't exploited, but it reaches people who may exploit young people. It was addressed, but not resolved. Really upset me.
That's a whole other issue...and one where there may be no easy answers.
horrible.....It's unbelievable....
