Marc Jacobs has probably made jelly shoes chic again--and what a blast from the past it is. Still, I can't envision wearing them anywhere else but on the beach or at the pool--such an unimaginative fuddy-duddy I am. But seriously, would you take these out on the town? Don't they get rather hot in the heat of summer? Won't they melt or get yukky on the overheated asphalt? I know they're not suitable for the office, nor are they exactly appropriate for an elegant outfit, so enlighten me here. Perhaps it's a mental obstacle--one that stubbornly refuses to re-live my misguided youth by getting plastic-clad. I love Marc Jacobs with a passion, but it's really hard for me to embrace his line of jelly shoes (he seems to come up with new models every year now).

Re: Jelly shoes
I just talked a friend out of buying a pair earlier this week. They were a red ballet flat, made out of the jelly fabric. I convinced her not to by pointing out that your feet would sweat to death, which is kind of gross since the shoes would have no absorbency. I don't know though; I would also be concerned about wear and tear. $5 jelly shoes from the grocery store when I was little, that's one thing. Marc Jacobs? That's another!

Re: Jelly shoes
Yeah, I'd have to agree those are a bit much. :)
If you're looking for an amazingly low key "jelly" in an up-to-date color/style...I HIGHLY reccomend these by Melissa Campana.. I can wear them with everything and they are the MOST COMFORTABLE shoes i own! :D Have them in black and gold!

Re: Jelly shoes
They’re like crocs, but they’re not as ugly, and they look less comfortable than people claim crocs are (I’m not buying it). The problem is this: for some reason, they’re supposed to be something people who are mature and adult like and would wear. One word: traumatic. What are they thinking?

Re: Jelly shoes
I don't know what is wrong with our higher end shoe makers. Stuart Weitzman has jellys. I just saw a bunch of others, only am too lazy to do the research now. One thing is certain, they will not carry them for long.

Re: Jelly shoes
Biggest problem to me? Jellies are maybe $5 worth of molded plastic ...add a designer name & $200 pricetag...Ouch. Designer Jellies are just wrong, IMHO.
