Default Pricing

We all know that a pair of Manolos can set you back a good $550-600, or more, depending (yep, gone are the days of 'Sex and the City' when they were "just" $400 a pair). But, $3000? That was the retail price of these two pairs, the 'Samba' and the 'Costa Samba'. True, they're on a huge 49% off sale now, going for a more modest $1530 but...forgive me if I'm still puzzled. Am I missing something? One of the descriptions mentions some 'patch' crocodile pieces, but the other is just tweed. I heard before that when a pair of shoes costs so much, it's usually the materials you pay for (anything above $1000, anyway). I just wonder what is so special about these--which, you will forgive me, but I don't even find that attractive (I wouldn't wear the 'Samba' one for the life of me).

Maybe you get the pony whose hair the shoe bits came from with the shoes.

What I find more intriguing is that they're sold out... someone understands this mystery.

I think shoes like this don't actually exist. That explains their unfathomable price and why they're sold out.

I mean, sure, I imagine there are all kinds of special shoes that are custom made by high end designers that are in this price range and higher, but I'm always doubtful that shoes like that are ever marketed to the general public.

I don't own a pair but I adore the work of M.B. And the shoes in his old store in London are breathtaking. I didn't walk in because I did once in Munich and tried some really high heels on and it was like you just walked into heaven. As I couldn't afford them AND didn't know when on earth I'll wear them I was sad all day and my journey was somehow ruined.
