Not only have some of Disney’s most famous characters taken up high fashion, they have also lost a lot of weight. In fact, Daisy Duck has never looked quite so …skinny.

Barneys New York Unveils Disney Fashion Supermodels

In a new campaign called “Electric Holiday” which will begin at Barneys Madison Avenue on November 14, an electric light show will highlight animated films in the store windows of some of your favorite Disney characters walking the runway to an original score by Michael Giacchino.

Dennis Freedman, Barneys creative director, told WWD: “When we got to the moment when all Disney characters walk on the runway, there was a discussion. The standard Minnie Mouse will not look so good in a Lanvin dress. There was a real moment of silence, because these characters don’t change. I said, ‘If we’re going to make this work, we have to have a 5-foot-11 Minnie,’ and they agreed. When you see Goofy, Minnie and Mickey, they are runway models.”

Yes, it’s weird seeing our Disney favorites tall, extremely thin, and for some reason, with human hands. But, I guess if you’re going to sell high-fashion Disney merchandise in your store, who better to model it than…Mickey and Minnie?
