Couple of things to note... first off, I'm a vegetarian and don't buy or wear anything with leather in it, which restricts my choices a LOT. It's a pain. Secondly, I have a weird problem with my knees. Due to an alignment problem, my feet pronate (roll inward) severely when I stand flat. This results in my shin twisting inward and my knee then is out of kilter and basically it means that my knees always hurt if I walk for more than 5 minutes. Even in really good, really stable walking shoes. The problem goes away, however, if I stand on my toes. If my weight is on the ball of my feet instead of my heel, my feet don't roll in, my knees don't torque, there is no pain. I'm actually more comfortable running in 4" heel boots than I am in running shoes.
So I've looked but have never found an actual athletic-quality sneaker type shoe that has a high heel (wedge shaped--I'm not talking about a platform where the whole shoe is elevated--I need the heel up, the toe down). Does anyone know of a manufacturer who makes such a thing?
The other thing is warm slippers for wearing at home. My feet get cold, but slippers are always flat and so my knees always hurt. I think it would be awesome to find a wedge heeled shoe (or a chunky heel or whatever, but wedge sounds more plausible) that was actually a full slipper (that is, not just one that covers the toes and leaves the heel exposed. Not only are those not warm enough, they fall off my feet.) All I can ever find are those pumps with the little tuft of maribou on the toe when I search for heeled slippers. Anyone know of they're actually made? I have some of these boots for wearing outdoors, which are perfect... but something a little for indoors (something I could put my feet up on the sofa in, you know?) would be nice.
