I do ballroom dancing and we have plastic heel covers -they come in slim and flare tips. They are clear and you don't notice them for dancing, I'd guess you could use them for regular heels as well. (Supadance is one company that makes them and you can find them on Rhinestone, Rhinestones Crystal, Ballroom Dance Music, Dance DVD in accessories) That might help.
