I can't create a new thread on this forum until I've replied to five posts, so I'm adding my question to this thread instead. Hope that's okay.
I'm finding it utterly impossible anymore to find durable, comfortable men's all-purpose wide width (E or better) black leather shoes that I can walk in all day every day that don't fall apart after 4-6 months. The key words here are "durable" and "comfortable." They should be able to pass for dress if necessary but not be formal wing-tip type shoes. Policeman style shoes or waiter's style leather shoes are fine.
For many years, I wore a style of Carolina brand shoes that were perfect (they would last me about two years before finally wearing out). But since the company moved their production overseas a few years ago, they simply aren't anywhere near the quality they used to be.
Since then, I've tried all sorts of shoes by American and German makers that are supposed to be of top quality, some of which are fairly expensive. They're just not durable, any one of them.
I'm open to serious, well-informed suggestions here. Many thanks.
