Default Birkenstock

So, I've been holding out on the Birkenstocks because, well, you know. Doesn't exactly scream fashion, you know? But I'm also a practical gal, and when those hot summer days come and I have to work sandals, therefore not being able to wear my orthotics in them--what do I do? Sandals rarely come with arch support (I only have a few of those), and well, Birkenstocks do, and they have a wonderful reputation for comfort. And so it is that I'm eyeing these:

They're $60 on Yoox, and they seem to be quite comfy for all those grocery-shopping and odd errands to the bank, post office, and what not during the hot season. But I'm still reluctant to take the plunge. Will I lose my fashion cred if I get these? Hah, I kid! But still. What do you think?

Birks are one of those things that I honestly consider a staple of any summer wardrobe. I've got my standard 2-strap brown Birks, and while they're not the most fashionable, sure, they're comfort like nothing else. The cork footbed molds to the shape of your foot, so it really becomes like wearing orthotically-made shoes. And they make so many more stylish kinds now than they used to. Not cutting edge fashion, perhaps, but in the name of comfort, I say do it. And embrace the funky style of them.

For Birkenstocks, those are cute and the price is right. However, I'm still a hold out -- I just find that there are too many adorable alternatives to need to wear Birks. That said, I appreciate that I have a problem-free foot: no orthotics, no problem in flats with no arch support, etc. (Although admittedly I'm mind-over-matter in ignoring foot pain if it means cuter shoes!)

If you want to try a great looking Birkenstock, go to Fox Valley Birkenstock, Discount Birenstock Shoes and Sandals and check out the new spring collection of Tatami sandals. They have the best collection of sandals this year. Anyone wearing these sandals will get loads of compliments. Check them out and let me know what you think.
