Re: Thierry Rabotin: are they worth it?
Hi, Sara--
Sorry I haven't seen this post earlier--but can I say now a belated, but very enthusiastic YES?
A pair of Thierry Rabotin low wedges are probably the most comfortable shoes I own. A friend of mine wears this brand almost all the time--the comfort is unparalelled, and the very forgiving and supple leathers and materials combined with the intelligent construction accommodate "problem" feet such as wider feet, bunions, etc. Let's face it, not all of us have been born with narrow dainty feet, as some of these designers think, so we really appreciate good fit when we get it!
Back to Thierry Rabotin: price is indeed a problem. I only got mine because they were on a very generous sale (about 60% off); however, with the wisdom of hindsight, they are worth the several pairs of shoes I got instead for the same amount of money, and which I almost never wear. In other words, they are quite worth the price.
Some people complain that the styles are frumpy or dated, but I disagree. They're classic, simple, well-made, and there are plenty of styles that would fit just about any personality.
If you can find a pair of TR that you like on sale, do not hesitate for one moment. But even if you have to pay full price, it's a worthwhile investment.
If you don't believe me, try them first in a store. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
Good luck and do let us know if you got them--pictures and comments please!
