shoes leave smudges

I recently bought a pair of shoes, and they leave big black smudges on linoleum when they slide on it. Is there anything I can do to fix them? Put some kind of coating on the outsoles? (they don't have great traction in the first place, so it wouldn't really hurt them to put some kind of coat of plastic on them...)

Sometimes rubber soles do that and there's nothing you can do about it, save from really thoroughly cleaning the soles of the shoes and stepping with care.
