What material is this?!!

I have some platform shoes from Brazil which are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I would like to know if anybody knows the material that is sometimes used to make high heels from Brazil. It looks like wood but it does not weigh enough to be wood and it sounds like almost foamy when I walk. The brand of the shoe is 'Anna Esther' and I've also seen another Brazilian brand 'Passarela' with a similar material.

Is it possible it could be a painted cork? I am not sure if that would give a wood like appearance, but cork is popular platform material and it is super comfortable and may make that sound that you are talking about... But I am not sure.

The material is not cork. It is too smooth and lightweight to be cork. I am attaching some pictures to make it easier to identify.

Hopefully this helps in identifying the material. It feels almost like rubber.
