I actually don't own any from this brand.
But, if you check Zappos return policy, I think you can still return 1 shoe per month...If so, it's no problem to try them on around the house for a couple of hours. Just be sure to stay on carpet or other surfaces that will not scratch or damage the shoes.
Also, sometimes a shoe that is comfortable in the house is not so comfy in the real world, so take a look at sole thickness & quality to help predict how it may wear outside. In a worst case, resoling/vibram work can help cushion the shoe - plus extend it's wear.
Gal... If a web site is selling Christian L. shoes for $200 they are probably fake, right? I wish I weren't answering my own question, but I would love it if you could honestly say, WHY NO, they are definitely the real deal. A Place out of Pittsburg called Dezign House... PrestoMart is the clearing site. Let me know what you think.
I would personally be leary. Yes, I have seen CL shoes on clearance for $250 at Joseph's last spring. But, that is unusual. We actually sopme members here (Junehawk & Shaq91 come to mind) who have more Loubouitin/high end shoes than I usually run into (I'm in a rural town, so most of my shopping is online from reputable retailers) - you might be able to PM one of them & get an opinion /find out if they have info on this retailer.
Unfortunately, there are a surprising number of fake CL & other designer shoes available these days. And, since most people think $200 is a lot for any shoe - the counterfeiters can often convince the unwary or less knowledgeable that they are buying the real thing.
Of course, finding out something is counterfeit, I'd rather go shopping at payless, if that makes any sense.
Gal... I am in a semi-rural area. West of Phoenix about 45 miles. A farmer's wife who has absolutely no need for CL except they are pretty. I wonder if the tractor show is a good place to wear them.
I will steer clear of the suspicious CLs, I have purchased a couple of fake Louis V for my granddaughters dress up trunk. I understand the sentiment on Payless vs. Counterfeits.
I'm semi-rural as well; 2 acres.
Anyway, I keep buying shoes even with a grave driveway. I guess I'm just hopeless.
My hubby is a total enabler, too, within reason. So, he figures - I have shoes, he's looking at setting up a small smithy & ham radio setup. We all have our little obsessions.
Of course, I've managed to find some fabulous Betsey Johnsons online at places like 6pm & Amazon for $60-100. Which is pretty good to get similar trends to the more expensive brands - since I don't know if I could ever justify CL prices (especially with retail on a pair shooting up to $700-1K this year - ouch). Hubby wants a small working tractor. He'd have apoplexy if I suggested buying a single pair of shoes at the same price! And heaven forbid something like that get dirty. At least last summer, you could find some NM last call & Saks clearance for under $350. Not sure how likely that is with these higher prices.
Small tractor. On 2 Acres? John Deere has this cute little tractor. It looks like a real tractor (not a big lawn mower) only minature sized. I don't know how much it is, but it is cute as cute as can be. He would be the envy of all the other guys in the neighborhood.
(I can't believe I just posted this. )
We love shoes, men love tools & hardware.
Is that a generalizaion? Of course - but certain stereotypes exist because there is a fair level of truth behind them.
I'm just saying, this year if there is a choice between a $1095 Louboutin & $1300 ride-on tractor/ATV that takes cultivator attachments, I know which way the budget goes on that one... & fashion/beauty takes a second seat in that case. We also just moved last year, so I had all those moving/move-in expenses last year & need to stay on budget this year to eliminate some icky short-term debt. Of course, buying at a reasonable price in an area that did not have totally insane housing increases helps - We have an affordable mortgage on a property that should hold it's value.
Oh, to be made of money. I figure if it's meant to be, I will find a fabulous CL, Manolo, Zanotti, etc. after about 18 months when our personal/auto loans are all gone. There have been so many gorgeous shoes over the last 50 years, I can wait until I'm all debt-clear & save away for a big splurge (on sale, though if I follow past habits) that I will love & baby forever.
How's that for being a chatty Kathy today?
That staying on budget thing is a real drag, isn't it.
They say it build character ... whoever 'they' are.
