If it is leather you might be able to find a cobbler who could to a black dye for you. You would just want to make sure they guarantee their work so that the color does not wear/wash off.

Dr. Martens do last a long time and they are well worth the price. I found that the more I wore mine, the better they fit. Rather than getting a pair died, you might as well try to find a pair that are exactly what you want. Since they've stoppped manufacturing them, they can be rarity in stores. I know its almost summer, but there's nothing wrong with being prepared for winter. I hope this helps!
