Shoe language problem! I can't tell which boots have a decent liner in them to keep feet "warm". I'm not talking fleece lining or anything, just something that will withstand cold temps with warm socks on. i don't want to buy a boot and have it be flimsy leather against the elements. How do i figure out if a boot is fit for winter?

Look for something that is 'weatherized', or has a 'microfiber lining'. Many of the man-made microfiber fabrics are designed to act as temperature insulators. Also, many cold-weather boots will have a 'Good to -17' degree or other note to let you know just how rugged they are. In general, fashion boots are more rain-friendly than cold-temp friendly. What I tend to do is by good/warm microfibre hiking socks from someplace like REI & then make sure you buy a boot that has room for a warm, insulating sock. That also allows for more wear when the weather reaches into the 50's & up.
