I'm looking for a close-toe minimalist walking shoe. I have pretty flat feet and currently Converse, walking anywhere from an hour up to three hours in a day. The converse don't give me any trouble (I actually find them quite comfortable although I hear the opposite from people with higher arcs), but would like a bit of a change, something with less rubber.
I hear the more similar to barefoot walking, the healthier, so I want to take the plunge. Pure barefoot isn't much of an option in a city (glass, etc could be anywhere), and I can't say I want a sandal. Dirty feet just aren't my thing. I want a barely-there closed-toe shoe. I had looked at TOMS, which seemed a great shoe that would seem to be practically barefoot. Any other suggestions out there? I'm male, by the way. Thanks for any help. |

What about Asics sneakers? They are pretty comfortable.

Walking barefoot is only good if you are walking in sand. From your description, you will be walking a lot on concrete. You need more than what Converse offers. It is hard on your joints. Look at Rockports, ECCO, Merrell. They are designed for walking. They have more rubber, but in the long run, your legs will be happier. THey are more expensive than Converse, but they are ten times the shoe All Stars are.
