Default Designer Shoes: Parties, Corporate Events and Private Viewings - RESEARCH!!!

I am a third year business student working on developing a business plan for a franchise within the designer shoe industry. I would appreicate any comments on the following ideas, suggestions and opinions are encouraged and welcomed. Thanks.

How do you feel about a company offering a personal touch and quaity service to the purchasing of designer footwear through hosting shoe parties within the home, workplace and corporate events?

For someone who is passionate about shoes do you think the business of a personal service (shoe party) would be a success?

Would you want to host a shoe party within your home, workplace or corporate event?

    Thanks Again

I think many people would be suspicious of shoe-parties. Purse parties are notorious for selling fakes and it would be easy to be 'painted with the same brush'. Also, most high-end designers do not authorize these types of sales, so you are likely to wind up with lower end or synthetic-laden brands.

The best way to work this for someone like me would be to find a way to offer emerging designers at a reasonalble price. Otherwise, there are tons of discount retailers online at every price range who offer great returns policies that I would expect this to be a tough market.

Not impossible, but how successful is the home-party model for non-niche products?

I agree with Gal. I am one who would rather shop online through a site that offers a good return policy. I am also a difficult shoe to fit.

I would rather go to a gynecologist than go to a shoe/purse/cooking/lingere/storage/crystal party. When I go to business conferences, I see wives all wandering around looking to spend money. So knowing what organization is coming to the local convention center and having a trunk show there might work.

A corporate trunk show might work. You would have to research the company's dress code and styles of the people there, and tailor your shoe selections to that. It would require a lot of time and work on your part.

When you say designer, are you talking about your own designs? Gal is correct in the upper end designers being selective about who sells their product. Fashion Spot has a ton of young designers who are hungry to get a foot in the door. They might be your best bet as far as getting designer styles for a good price.
