    Default See through

So I came across this picture in the NY Times, where 1. Yves saint Laurent vinyl-and-satin T-strap sandal, $675 2. Stella McCartney satin and- Vinyl high-heel sandal, $695. Personally, I don't like the feel of vinyl on my feet--it's not a particularly flexible or breathable material, so I just can't imagine it being that comfortable; plus, these shoes are way too high to be comfortable anyway.

Still, I wonder how you feel about the appeal of the see-through shoes? Mesh, plastic, vinyl, you name it--is this a trend you stand behind?

I've got to say no to this trend overall. The only times I like plastic and see-through shoes are when they're interesting from a sculptural point of view. The YSL T-strap above is gorgeous, in my opinion, but not as actual footwear. Put it in a display case and stick a museum label on it, and it's art. Just not something I'd actually wear.

I'd like them if the heel weren't that high. Of course I've never had plasctic shoes so I don't know if I'd actually like the way they felt.
