Me? Peep-toes, without a doubt. Just purchased the Hego's (ahem--see in the "Shoes" forum), and only a few months ago I got a pair of black Thierry Rabotin canvas peep-toes (super-comfortable, of course). This is a new venture for me. I used to dislike peep-toes because 1) they were closed enough that I had to wear them with pantyhose (as a rule, I like to wear some kind of pantyhose or sheer stocking with closed shoes); 2) they were open in front, which means that no, you can't wear pantyhose or stockings with them. Of course, such rules are extremely volatile, as the latest fashions practically require you to wear socks with sandals (something I will NEVER do).
Still, I think I've found a happy medium with these canvas peep-toes, in particular because they're comfortable enough that they won't give me blisters after prolonged wear on the bare foot (which was a problem for me, hence the need for pantyhose). I also think I make wiser fit choices than in the past--I've grown up in that regard. So yeah....peep-toes!!!!

That's really funny that this post should come up -- I was just thinking about the same topic as I was walking down the street today. In high school (many years ago), I had black Docs for "dress" occasions and five pairs of Converse, in different colors, for anything else. Taking Converse off the market for a few years was the best thing that ever happened to my style.
Then I realized that a few summers ago, I couldn't get enough slides. I thought they were the best shoe ever. Casual, easy, but still looked good. Any sort of slide -- sneaker mules, loafer mules, slip on sandals, you name it. My next trend was heels. I've never been into heels, but I got a "job" (in quotes b/c it was actually a temporary fellowship, but in a work environment) and I wanted to look the part. Well, a year later, I'm out of heels -- I'm just not that person, physically or otherwise. They're still hot on occasion, don't get me wrong, but for day to day my shoes can't be too casual! My newest trend is flats. My boyfriend is about an inch taller than me (he doesn't care but I'm sensitive to it), and I love wearing flat shoes. The flatter the better. Ballet slippers, skimmers, mary janes, anything very very flat! |
