Would any of you be interested in designing your own boots (choose the base, material, color, lenght etc) if given the chance at an affordable price??? If so... what would you pay for such a boot?

My favorite new trend in boots is definitely Valenki. They're Russian boots that have been around for a long time. They are definitely what I will be wearing this winter. I'm looking to buy them online. Has anyone bought the AKA Culture Valenki? Those are the ones I want, I think, but I want to know if they are the best?

Happy hunting!

I have a pair of the AKAs and I LOVE THEM! They are so stylish and comfortable. I get a million compliments on them every time i wear them out. I got a code for the website to buy them at a discount, too. It's AKADC2008. I think it's still good.

Aw, shucks. I ordered my AKAs a couple days ago. I had given up on getting any feedback here. Anyways, thanks for the info and the discount code. I wish I could have used it. I'll post it over in Steals and Deals so that no one else misses out. I'm so excited - I can't wait to get my Valenki.

Sorry you had given up on the forum - sometimes it takes a little while for someone who owns the brand or style to chime in. I have no experience with this brand, so couldn't really help you out.

that's such a great idea! I would make my boots totally high end and one of a kind for each style.

I have found two different kinds of custom boot-shoe design. The first is really semi-custom. It is where you get on a website and choose the material (suede, leather, lizard etc) then choose the heel, the height of the shaft, the circumference of shaft, etc. Usually from a drop down menu. This allows you to get what you want, but you are limited to what the site has to offer. It keeps the cost of the boot down. They don't really have to "make" anything new.

The second custom boot option is truly custom. They take about 7 or 8 different measurements of your foot. Your leather is usually on the shelf. Then you choose from a menu of toe shapes, from heel shapes, heel height, and so on. They are more expensive because this boot is made for you. I have one pair of custom made boots. They aren't anything sexy, - chocolate brown, bullhide, flat heel, round toe- but if I am going to be out and about, in boot weather, these are the ones I put on because they fit like a dream. I want another pair.

To answer the question...How are these boots constructed. Will the sole be leather? or Manmade? Will they be sewn on or glued? What kind of leather is offered? I have paid an obscene amount for a pair of custom boots for DH, but he has worn them for 20 years.
