Boots like that work great with a full or A-line skirt that falls just below the calf to just above the ankle.

Im looking for some fall/winter boots as well! Ive never really been into boots because I didnt think I could pull it off so I always wore uggs and pumps in the winter time...... now I think its time to get trendy! Ive been looking online to find some cute boots that are brown, calve high, wedges or heels, good with dresses and pants, that are a good price...preferable not over $120. any suggestions? Ive been looking at DSW they have nothing. Nordstrom had one pair that I like but now I cant find them.

I would really recommend taking a peek over at shoebuy.com. They have been lowering prices on last years boots so you can really get some great deals if you find a style that you will like for years.
