Men's Shoes

You want men to wear heals? I'm confused.

hell yes, i think it would be a great move foward in fashion.....

It's a confrontational step to many people (particularly the average 'guy;s guy). It's much like how shocking it was for women to start wearing pants about 100 years ago. We have a social norm. And, like it or not, we have a lot of messages that our culture expects from certain types of apparel. When somebody co-opts something from the opposite gender, there is always a risk that potentially unwaranted assumptions will be made about the wearer adopting the fashion in question. Having said that, fashion is also about what makes you feel good, powerful, your most ideal self. And for someone who is looking to change or move fashion (like Marc Jacobs) - Shoes are a place that has been ignored in men's fashion for some time (outside of certain staples such as Dress, Atheletic & Loafer). So, I am hearing from more younger men that are willing to experiment in fashion in their shoes.

I just don't know that many men who would make the occasional comfort sacrifices for women's heeled shoes. I know that attractive women's shoes make me feel more feminine & powerful. I expect men will have a different set of core responses.

Just some thoughts of the tip o my brain before popping off to bed.

I find heels to be comfortable and fun to walk in. They also make me feel more dangerous and sexy and even a little more masculine. Men's shoes have been ignored for far too long and I feel that they need to focus on this more than anything.

I am a pretty fashion foward guy. I wear women's jeans but I don't buy really tight jeans...I usually go up a couple of sizes to avoid extreme tighness and I wear fitted men's shirts. I am pretty skinny so the style looks pretty **** sleek on me. I like wearing the heels (with jeans long enough to cover the heel) because they make the front of my feet look a little bit shorter and all the different types of shoe styles that women have make a much more versatile wardrobe.

I have posted a picture of something similar to the style I wear...although my shirts don't really have a whole lot of fancy print and I don't feel very comfortable showing off my belly ;).

Well, Shoeguy2008, that makes two of us here. If you look up my (graymnnce) posts from a while back, you'll find I'm another guy with a taste for heels.
And Galligator has always been supportive of me too - she's truly an awesome lady!

Saw these Marc Jacobs picts and it made me think of this thread - check out MJ in heels and a skirt. Doesn't he look great!

I'm new on here so i know this thread has probably long finished but i am totally loving the high heels with bootcut jeans on men!

thanks. I don't think the look is bad at all. I think it's actually quite classy and can be pulled off nicely. For me, I think it works best with women's jeans because the cut fits around the shoe a whole lot better and women's jeans tend to fit whereas men's jeans really don't...if that makes sense. I really hope the style takes off, which i think it won't, but until then i'll enjoy being the original one. :)

Anyway, maybe some more pictures might be called for here or even just some ideas of what you guys think would look good. Thanks for all the positive feedback and responses. I am extremely happy to have found this place and found all of you who have an open mind and are willing to let the men enjoy a good pair of shoes as well!
