Does anyone know of something that can be used on cork wedges to protect them from getting all dirty? I was wondering if ScotchGuard would work, but maybe somebody knows of something better...

Do they still sell scotchguard? My bf's mom told me that it's considered a pollutant of some sort, and you can't get it anymore. I'm looking for something similar for a pair of cream shoes I have, so I'm interested to hear responses.

Ok, this may be a stupid idea, and I admittedly know nothing about it, but how about using a sealant commonly used for cork floors--something like this: U-40 Cork Seal. Ask your hardware store about it!

There are cork sealants for shoes. Birkenstock makes one (Cork Life), and so does Naot. I've tried both, and I'd vote for the Birkenstock one. It's easy to apply (comes with a little applicator brush sort of like nail polish), and it dries clear and fast. There are others out there, but Cork Life runs about $5 a pop, and works well, so after I tried it, I stopped looking. You can use it on any cork shoes, too... not just Birks. It will leave a slightly shiny finish, though, so if you've got raw cork shoes and want to keep that look, you might want to look for something more invisible.
