I wonder if some folks find it 'creepy' because it challenges social norms. Do someone else's choices cause us to question our own, make us uncomfortable, & why? People react strongly to fashion as it relates to accepted gender norms and may even sometimes take other folks choices as an attack on their own. It is interesting, because our personal reactions to relatively harmless things we see in others is a great way to learn about ourselves when those 'buttons' are pushed. Maybe we learn about some personal limits, societal programming, or opportunities to change & learn. It's all in how we choose to relate to our experiences.

I actually find that look to be ... disorganized, shall we say? But is it because we are not programmed to expect this? I'm not sure, it does have a visually jarring effect on me. But is it just shock at something unexpected, or do I have so much social expectation after several decades in our culture that I respond without thinking?
Always interesting food for thought. |
