Default Should I Spend This Much For These Shoes?

These are the Nike Air Griffey Max 1. They are $140.00
I usually never spend money on things like this. I usually put my money in the bank. So I thought it would be good to do something differet and by them. And I like them soooooooo much.

HERES A LINK TO A PICTURE OF THE SHOE: http://nicekicks.com/images/nike-air...ax-royal-1.jpg

Should I get them for $140 or not. I like them alot.

You get what you pay for, but you have to pay for what you get.

When it comes to shoes, sneakers are a pretty good value because you can wear them often and they usually last quite a while. Nikes are a good shoe. How many times will you wear them, 5 times, 50 times 500 times. Divide the cost with the number of times you think will wear them. That will give you an idea of the true "cost" of these shoes.

this is not always necessarily true. i have a few pairs of boots & shoes that i have bought off of ebay (brand new in box) and i have had them for a few years now and i still wear them and they have defiantly been through the ringer and have held up very well! i think i paid maybe 25.00 shipped if that on them.

Did you buy for the price or for the brand? Do you still find that kind of "deal" on ebay? The reason I ask is because I am writing something on the cost vs value of shoes. Getting as many opinions as possible will help me.

i bought for the price and the look obviously lol.
i dont have the money to drop a few hundred on pairs of shoes so i like to find deals on great looking shoes that cost less.
i ended up starting a website for that reason because i know that there are a lot of other people like me out there. after purchasing a lot of these type of shoes from ebay over the years because i found that they held up, look good and dont fall apart.

I think price vs, value is a personal decision. A lot of it depends on expectations and budget. If I spend over $100 for a shoe, I expect it to last & stay in good shape for a long period of time. If I spend $20 at Payless, It may last anywhere from 1-5 years, but it will probably have to be tossed at that time. I am more likely to 'abuse' my cheaper shoes. Maybe I sub-consciously baby my more expensive shoes so that there is no accidental 'shortening' of their life span. My Vasques hiking boots that are 10 years old were an (expensive at that time $85. Except for the need to have a new insole put in, they are still in remarkable shape.

I think I do this a bit backwards. When I find an athletic shoe that fits correctly, I wear it into the ground. Fashion shoes get gentler treatment. Maybe because fashion shoes tend to be more about aesthetics and I'm afraid that style will be gone if I damage them?

But back to the original question. To some of us, $30 is a big budget commitment for shoes, some it's $150, and for some others, $300. We all live at different points of the financial spectrum and have different hobbies and pursuits. If you can afford a higher price for a brand that you love, than that is a good choice for you. If you find yourself going into debt for it, than you may need to change your priorities.

In my case, $150 is where I really start to consider the price vs. wearablitily of a shoe. But, I rarely eat out, don't go out to movies, make my lattes at home & buy few knick-knacks. I tend to spend on fabrics (sewing), certain arts items, and shoes.

I know other people who are 'collectors', others spend $$$ on games, sports, athletics...we all have our 'thing' and it varies according to our personality & interests.

i have to agree, some people have different numbers in their heads when it comes to what is a lot of money.

also some people just buy things for their name where as i buy things for the way that they look, i could honestly care less about the name if the shoes are fabulous looking.

dont get me wrong if someone handed me a pair of choos and said i could have them i wouldnt hand them back LOL.

some people see names as a social standing, i just like to look good and have my own style.
