As many as fit her lifestyle & budget.

Some women are fine with 5 pair, 15 pair....atheletic, sandals, flip flops & business shoes.

Others love variety and wind up with more...for differences in style, the way new shoes make us feel when we wear them, aesthetics or artistic value, or just love of the whole shoe-shopping experience.

Different people spend their money on different things - Be it cars, sports, activities, games, movies, etc. If you are not going into debt, and it gives you enjoyment, the number owned doesn't particularly matter. It doesn't even necessarily mean one is outrageously selfish; this is one small aspect of a whole person's interests. I have encountered many women with a lot of shoes (or clothes, or purses, or knick-knacks) who also donate money, goods, or time to local charities.

It is really when you cannot control your impulses and it is causing financial or emotional issues, that any shopping habit (shoes or otherwise) needs to be looked at for an underlying issue to address.

I agree with Gal. How many does a woman NEED? one pair. How many should a woman have? That is like asking how many chairs should a person have. It all depends on the lifestyle, needs and budget of the individual person.

That depends on the woman. All we "need" is a pair. Now is the question of how many do we want? I am a shoe gal the more the better. Quaility is a huge thing for me. But a sweet little must have cheap shoe has found it's way to my closet a time or two.

So I think is what a girl is willing to spend and does it fit in her budget answers the question.

The answer is the same. A woman needs only one pair but the amount she can spend determines the number that she can have. It is preferable to keep different pairs for the different seasons.

I don't wanna make a number. This is one of the things women spend for because we won't look fat in it no matter what. And is 5 pairs OK for you? If you could afford it, why not right?
