All the major brands, ie. Nike, Adidas, etc have decent to great running shoes. I personally like Nike because every piece of excersise equippment I have is Nike, so it's a fashion issue rather than comfort. But to address your question, the first thing to consider when buying running shoes is your need. Are you buying the shoes for long distance runs? sprints? cross country? paved roads? unpaved? For long distance runs, i.e. Marathons, you want something cushined. I would recommend going to foot locker and buying insoles and placing them in your shoes. They did wonder for my feet as they are still thanking me after the countless marathons I have done. However, if you're sprinting mainly, cushioned shoes will not be as good. Since sprinting usually is only done for short durations, you want something that does not have a lot of cushion. This will ensure you obtain the best possible time.
