I don't remember the first pair of high heels I put on, though there's a picture of me as a baby in my playpen with a single high heel and apparently I enjoyed talking to it, I was later told.
I remember being around four or five and not having tons of money growing up, and how excited I was when I was finally able to 'help pick a pair out, Sweetie'. That was my Grandmother, who bought me my first 'new' pair of shoes, the ones that were not from a garage sale or second hand. My Grandmother, was a woman who influenced my shopping/collecting habits, who had dressers of Jewelry and Baubles(literally two dressers and an armoire held her jewelry, in boxes, all in rows in the drawers, my Grandfather had one tiny dresser in the corner and that was all for him, otherwise his clothing was on the first floor in the guest room) and a full walk in closet you couldn't walk in because it was so overstuffed with shoes and clothes and purses. Many still had price tags and she had purchased them simply because she 'just couldn't resist'. A phrase I use far too often with my husband when I'm fessing up to just 'one' more pair of shoes. I love shoes because they are the one thing you can wear even if you're sick in bed,and have gained weight and need a total pick me up. And I should know, I've been struggling with a chronic illness now for nearly two years and have bought many a pair of VERY high heels in that time, only two of which have ever seen the outside of my home, and the trips they took were short lived, then back in the closet they went. Sigh. Writing this, I think I'm going to start wearing them again. Incongruous I know, in jammies or a nightgown, lying in bed with a pair of stilettos peeking out. My shoes have remained something that is familiar to me in this time of struggling and not recognizing myself. Ok, wow, that was way more emotional then I meant to get. Soooo, the bottom line is that I adore Shoes, Jewelry, Makeup, Clothing, Lingerie (it's it's own designation), and Purses, ooooh, Purses, another temptation I have a hard time resisting. Ah, and I have a love for antiques, things that are ornate and very over the top. Much like my favorite high heels. It's a pleasure to meet everyone. It's wonderful that there exists a site like this for us to gather together. MG ![]() |

Prettiest pair of Brian Atwood- Margie-peep toe sandals- Heels, iridescent jewel colors all over. Here's the blurb
"The '80s are officially back so celebrate with these fabulous retro-inspired rainbow speech leather sandals. Fun and frivolous, they sum up the very best of the decade and work with everything from a bright mini shift to a black leather pencil skirt. Heel measures approximately 120mm / 4.5 inches." They are on sale for $330, they went down over the weekend, however, having splurged on a pair of Manolo's and two Longchamps this weekend I simply can't do it. So has anyone seen anyone else doing a similar shoe that costs much, much, much less? I am such a shoe fanatic, I must try to restrain myself somewhat, it's just Soho hard. It's so exciting to get those perfect shoes in the mail and try them on even if they are just to wear in bed with a tee shirt and capri jammies. LOL My husband thinks I"m insane!! But I can think of worse things to be, and worse things to be Obsessed with! Ciao, M |
